Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny

Tenacious D is a “comedy hard rock band” with the actor Jack Black as band leader. Yes, the same JB from “Rock School” and “Kung Fu Panda”. The big thing on this band is that they consider themselves just as “the best rock band of the world”. So the movie is a “modest” biography of the band.

The young naive JB(Jack Black) goes to California to try to be a rock star. Getting there he meets the “smart ass” KG (Kyle Glass), and together they decide to start the band Tenacious D, because of the shape of the birthspots both of them have on their butts. In the search for a magic and mysterious guitar pick they decide to go to a rock’n'roll museum and rob it.

Ok, I assume that sometimes the movie is a little silly but anyway it´s very funny. The songs are great and there are moments when it´s really fantastic – see the the mushroom trip scene.

Researching through the imdb, I found out that HBO did a series in 2002, of only 6 episodes, about the band Tenacious D. I´d better look for it...

Another great thing in the movie is the amount of famous people doing fast appearances.
