Purple Night - Helsinki

The second Purple Night evening took place on Sat, Jan 17, 2009 at the legendary Tavastia Club in Helsinki. It was arranged by Perfect Strangers of Finland that is the official Finnish Deep Purple appreciation society, approved by the band and their management. PSOF supports all music related to Deep Purple family tree including quite a wide selection of musicians and bands.
The very first Purple Night was arranged a year ago, when PSOF celebrated the 10th anniversary as the "10 Perfect Years".

It was a big success and Tavastia Club was sold out. This year was again perfect, tributing the great music with "10 Perfect Women". We were happy to present both experienced musicians along the new faces and fresh voices appearing on Tavastia stage for the first time. One of the singers was Erja Lyytinen, the Blues Lady from Finland, who is touring frequently around the world.
We started with the warm-up by group of rocking young women, playing their own music: Barbe-Q-Barbies. They were not expecting that big crowd and were surely rocking more than average barbies… and as the crowd really liked them, the atmosphere was rising immediately. It was nice to be among the audience and hear comments like: "Who are these girls? They really rock!" Many people asked more about them afterwards too. |

Then the 10 women started with the great house band formed by long-term musicians, and one by one they built the night to a perfect rock event, gathering finally all together on the stage, singing Smoke on the Water. At that time we all felt just perfect!
It was once again a project that gave me personally new friends, a possibility to learn about event organising and after all the best reward is always to see the happily rocking people who made it a success by arriving and having fun with us. Without this great music of Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Rainbow and other family members, our world would be so much poorer!
