The veterans of Judas Priest showed all their Heavy Metal longevity on the 14th of November, at Citybank Hall, in Rio de Janeiro.

The concert started punctually at 10:00PM, showing the usual respect Citybank Hall´s team has to the audience and, as usual, before the beginning of the concert, they prepared the atmosphere with the essence of Black Sabbath´s WAR PIGS coming from the speakers.

To complete the soundtrack the new tour´s background appeared, showing the cover of their most recent CD: NOSTRADAMUS. The overture song was also the album´s overture: PROPHECY, a typical Judas Priest song to bang the head.

In sequence, without much talking with the audience, the classic METAL GODS driving everybody crazy and with Rob Halford doing his famous “Robot steps”choreography during the chorus.

I believed that the next song would be something from their new album but for my surprise they played another classic, the almost forgotten EAT ME ALIVE, winner of “the third most offensive song ever” title, not to stop with a great sequence of classic songs.

The band was comfortable on stage and could overpass a big problem that happens in most of their concerts, the distant posture imposed, perhaps by the habit of playing at big stadiums.

One of the highest moments was during BRAKING THE LAW, maybe their most famous song, and Halford let people sing many parts of it. Sometimes it was difficult to hear the band playing cause everybody was singing real loud.

Bassist Ian Hill was really moving and those who have already seen a Judas Priest concert know that he is often standing still. This time he even walked around the stage! The duo of guitarists K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton is for sure one of the most influent of the world and they show clearly how to gather their different styles perfectly. The singer Rob Halford showed, that even though he is 57 years old there is a reason for being one of the most important rock singers with his voice that goes from the high and rough to the low and strong, with another great moment: the song ANGEL from their former album. Completing the group, the drummer Scott Travis, since the first moment hit the drums heavily with his precision , they way Heavy Metal drumming should be played. It is funny to see Travis playing cause even in complex parts of the song it seems to be really easy to him. Keeping the subject into drumming, it comes to my mind what he might think whenever he realizes he made the most important drums introduction of all times in rock? Because this is how the crowd replies whenever he starts playing his short drum solo in the introduction of the classic PAINKILLER. At that moment I thought Citybank Hall would be demolished! This is how the first part of the concert ended.

After a little break a great moment was to come: it was impossible not to hear the sound of the Harley-Davidson motor being turned on. The anxiety in the audience was increasing and, after a few seconds, a door in the middle of the stage was opened, Rob Halford came out riding on it, dressed like a motorcycle guy and the bis started with Hell Bent for Leather, Green Manalishi (“With the Two-Prong Crown”), originally of Fleetwood Mac, many fans don't even know the original version. To finish the concert, the traditional You’ve Got Another Thing Coming. It was the end and we were left with a great feeling of mission accomplished for having had a great evening!

I have to mention once more Citybank Hall´s organized team; the bar worked perfectly with a very fast service, security guards took care of the smokers politely and not rudely as usual. The house went up on the score table and the audience did too for showing up and having fun in peace.

Brazilian fans can wait expectantly for the next Judas Priest concert!
