Me and the Hard Blast team want to apologise for these weeks without any updates but I´ve been quite busy covering the summer festivals to give you great photos, reviews and news.
We´ve been also working on new partnerships to upgrade the website and improve our work.
In a couple of weeks everything will be back to normal and you can wait for great stuff!
Besides Tuska Open Air and Hellfest, we were at Ruisrock, Sonisphere, will be at Ankkarock and have done great interviews which are coming soon.
All this traveling will be over soon ´cause summer is unfortunatelly close to the end so, don´t give up on us! We´ll be back even better!!!

Unearthly: Age Of Chaos & Serial Killers: The Scary Wests

Unearthly –“Age of chaos”
You only have to listen to the first track of “Age of Chaos” to know that the band Unearthly, from Rio de Janeiro, came to kick ass with their new album.
With a starting 3-minute-listening, the band already offers the listener intensity, variety and awesome creativity on the excellent track “Murder the Messiah”, showing overwhelming drumming and riffs, blasphemous lyrics in the best unchristian style, besides a fast and very efficient solo played by the talented guitarist D.Arawn.
The beautiful acoustic introduction for the second track, “Rise the Scent of Death”, is just “the last peaceful moment before the storm” for one more unchristian petard vomited by the powerful vocals of Eregion (also guitarist, co-producer and responsible by the album art), with a mid section speed, on 1:45 min of pure communion between the riffs and the double bass drumming of Mauro “Morg” Duarte.
Next, “Thrust the Flag of Sin”, it´s one of my favorites (made by the main composer/lyricist and founding member of the band, the bass player M.Mictian), with sticky chorus in an old school vibe, an epic mid tempo(solo), and very creative drumming rhythm (the variation between the blast and the speed metal paces is exciting).
“Commando XXI” gets out of the religious thematic and talks about the “drug and traffic war”. Inside one more ultra fast petard I highlight the more old school base and mid tempo of the song, which lyrics are sung in Portuguese by Eregion.
The tittle song starts with an Arabic spice and then, an epic intro, after that, it´s time for total destruction. Highlight on the gap that pulls the main riff of the song, the power of the chorus and the solo, followed by the striking initial guitar theme.
In a style which overuses triggers, making the tone sound really “artificial”, the old school(acoustic) drumming production has to be highlighted and it makes us pay attention to the technique, precision and punch of the drummer Morg, who makes an excellent job in the entire CD.
“Incarnation of Salvation” is a double bass drum marathon in “warp speed”, which starts with percussive drumming and a striking riff, and it won´t stop! Total Workout black/death.
After the calm acousticinstrumental, “Lullaby for Lucifer; Anthems, MMarches and Warsongs” comes the destroyer one, with its “gaps” and a more traditional metal base in 2:00 min, going back to loading, a little after, with one more fast and intense solo by D.Arawn.
After an intro with one unexpected Gregorian chant, “Revelations of Holy Lies”, in spite of the unchristian lyrics, sounds more death metal (actually, the line between both styles scrambles sometimes in Unearthly songs), with one riff filled with “gaps” and brutal vocals from Eregion (in fact, I prefer the howled vocals he does, instead of the more common black metal high ones).
Closing the CD, we have a great and more than deserved tribute to one of the Brazilian (and why not worldwide) metal icons, SARCOFAGO (contemporary band to Sepultura, they were one of the first to use blast beats and influenced several extreme metal bands from Europe), with a very heavy version of the song “Orgy of Flies” (from the classic CD “Hate”, 94). The version is faithful to the original, keeping the punch but suppressing the keyboards (which I consider perfect, hehehe), and adding a blast beat on the bridge – prechorus. Fantastic.
Age of Chaos is mandatory for the fans of the style.

This is one the most brutal and bizarre cases I´ve known.
Actually, cases of couple serial killers are often like this! The Wests might be one of the most pervert and sadistic couples in the mankind history.
Fred came from a poor English family and had 8 siblings. Although he didn´t have a troubled childhood, when he was a teenager he got involved in robberies and, when he was 20 years old, was kicked out from home for molesting a 13-year-old girl.
He suffered 2 bad accidents where he hit his had (in one of them he was 8 months in a coma and, probably, had serious brain damage), the consequences were sudden mood swings and aggressive behavior.
Rose had a severe and violent father and a schizophrenic mother. At an early age she got interested in having sex with older man (some said she had an incestuous relationship with her father) and she was aggressive with her schoolmates, who used to tease her for being obese.
When they got married, in 72, an explosive combination was established.
During the years they lived together, Fred and Rose killed 12 women, after arresting and torturing them in their house, in Gloucester.
The victims were prostitutes, babysitters or tenants. Important to mention: they also murdered two daughters, one from Fred´s first marriage (Charmaine) and the other (Heather), one of their daughters, cause she refused to have sex with her own father.
Fred was a voyeur and liked to watch his wife having sex with other men (she was a prostitute in their own house). Their house was always in repair and it was, actually, a trick to hide their victims´bodies.
To pay for the repairs, Fred committed petty theft and Rose sold herself. They had many kids, some of them were Rose´s and her “clients” and those children became victims of their parents. The older daughter, Anne Marie, from a previews marriage, was molested when she was only 8 years old and became one of the main targets of the West´s cruelty.
After many years of little indictment and a lot of “luck”, finally the police decided to investigate the couple due to a denounce made by the friend of a girl who was victim of Fred´s sexual harassment. Detective Hazel Savage, who had already investigated Fred West, interviewed their relatives and got to know, through Anne Marie, of all abuse she had suffered in her father´s hands.
In 92 the police broke into the West´s house looking for evidence of pornography and under age children sexual abuse and, of course, they found what they were looking for.
Fred was arrested for rape and sodomy of an underage girl.
After that, the police went back to their house looking for the missing daughter, Heather (Fred and Rose said she had left the house because she was a lesbian and a nasty girl).
While digging the garden looking for Heather, cops got a surprise: they found several bones, and Fred, under pressure, confessed the crimes.
He made a point of assuming all crimes, nevertheless Rose was arrested and found guilty. In jail Fred was still devoting his love for Rose, but she avoided him and accused him of all homicides.
Depressed, Fred hanged himself in his cell a little before the new year´s eve of 95.
Although the defense tried to show Rose as a victim of a violent and dominating man, justice was made and she was sentenced to life.
